Please don't tell me this is it: Cause I kinda like having one thing I have to hold, not one in each hand, at least when it comes to a console anyway.

almost reminds me of the Coleco. Cept that thing looked like a phone with a big knob on it. Still, ugly controller. Seems almost like a big mistake as their Virtual Boy.

After watching the video I am not as dissapointed with it as I was when i just saw the pics. Its a different approach, and I dont really mind. The way I looked at the next generation anyway was getting the Nintendo System then decide on which of the other two I would buy since they were so simliar. Think I will be going sony and nintendo next gen, but that will have to wait till prices drop. The thing i thought was most interesting from the video was the Resident evil type flashlight, that was quite cool. And since it senses 3d rotation, this means this will probaly have the best control out of all the next systems for FPS, right after PC. But you can still plug gamecube controllers into the revolution for older games so its not like you are stuck with a remote for all games. this gets a Thumbs up in my opinion

>>Q: What kinds of expansions are planned? >>A: Wide assortments of peripherals are possible, but thus far Nintendo has only officially confirmed two of them. The first is an analog stick/trigger unit that Nintendo has dubbed the "nunchuck-style controller." The second is a conventional controller cradle/shell. Nintendo has also indicated that it might like to explore other expansions. It used Donkey Kong style bongos and a light gun as examples.

They should have just kept it the same. I would rather use my old Wavebirds then that shit. If they make it so that the old controllers are able to play on the new games then ok. But if I have to rebuy 4 controllers then fuck them.

Wow. I just looked at this thread, looks very lame in my honest opinion. I think they are trying to be innovative and its coming off lame. I do see some very cool possibilities, but they will be isolated to specific games. This will be the "Hey You Picachu" of next gen. If they really wanted to be cool, they would use a TrackIR type system that would move with your head movment. Thats cool! The flashlight..ahh... no..
Just give me the the GC controaller...

And Im assuming that you are going to have to pay for these seperately? The more I read this, the more agervated I become. I feel like Nintendo is trying to break one off in its fanbase. Like Devin said, I'd rather have functionality over innovation. I would rather see a cool, functional controller, than all this silly garbage.
Nintendo may make me eat my words, who knows? But as of now, im kind of disappointed.

I still look at this as a positive thing. Nintendo always has been the innovator of the market, some have failed, virtual boy, but most have been used as a basis for controllers. First to use shoulder buttons on the snes, then they used the analog stick on the n64, and now the touch screen on the ds (which is doing much better in sales then the psp). Now those might not seem as drastic as this, but most critics back then said nintendo's analog stick was a bad idea, and probaly the following generation no one will be using this idea exactly but i am sure motion tracking will play a role. Nintendo knew this generation that they wouldn't be competition for the other two if they didn't try something new, and in my honest opinion why not have something different if the other two are doing the same thing. this article from ign made the controller much more understandable : cube.ign.com/articles/651/651275p2.html
