Their fighting it: www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/09/16/pledge.appeal.ap/index.htmlAt the rate we are goin, were gonna end up with a colorless, flavorless, all equal "existance". Thats not how society works. Weither the kids hail god or not, they should know what the pledge of allegance is and how to say it! They dont have to stand up, hand over heart, and face our flag. At least there not changing the pledge, just the schools. If they took god out of it then they should be forced to recite it, hand over heart, facing our flag. Also, realizing this was jsig's first post, Welcome to BTC. We would be interested in learning more about you and how you found this site. Please take a moment to introduce yourself in the Introductions forum.

Well, John made me use my quota time to come here so I'm going to try to make it good Being forced to say the pledge of allegiance as a kid is dumb, not only because of the whole religion thing, but how many kids know what the words "pledge", "allegiance", "liberty", "justice" and others mean? How do those kids know what they're saying? If the kids really cared one way or another about saying the phrase "under God", then they wouldn't say it. The issue where this topic was blown wide open was started by some girl's father... it's not so much that the kids disagree with saying this as much as the parents are trying to stick their noses in something that kids will decide what they want to say over time. Parents are so stupid just like that woman with hot coffee at McDonald's :{{{{ Hi how are you all doing it is nice to hear from you all again

I look at it like this. The "under God" was never in the original version, so why the hell did they have to add it in the first place? This is what Eisenhower said when he added it: From this day forward, the millions of our school children will daily proclaim in every city and town, every village and rural schoolhouse, the dedication of our Nation and our people to the Almighty.I have no problem with stating my dedication to this country, but don't be an ass and act like everyone else in the country has the same views as you do. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pledge_of_AllegianceKhal: Hey man, I got Shire up to 34 and I've been kicking ass in the new BG. Good to see you posting.

Well hell then instead of it being uncontitutional they should simply turn it back into the old one:
1923 to 1954: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands: one Nation indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all."

I agree with that. I have no problem with taking "under god" out. After that, no one who lives in America should have a problem pledging allegance to America. Otherwise you have no buisness in America.
