This is an article I found on digg. Just wanted to hear your opinions on the matter. Inventor/Author Ray Kurzweil speaks in San Francisco about his 652-page book that predicts humans will eventually use their mastery of computers, software, gene-splicing techniques and nanotechnology to evolve into powerful, immortal, Borg-like beings. sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2005/10/03/BUG8QF0OO81.DTL&type=tech

Perhaps, but I think Mr. Kurzwiel has been watching too many episodes of Star Trek. I think machine and man will meld, but not on the level he is talking about. The whole "superhuman" thing is way out in left field. I see a future in human/machine combonations in the medical field. Eventually severed limbs will be replaced with machanical ones that link to the brain or nerves; but the whole immortal thing isnt happening.
Plus the whole "evolution" part of it is off. I dont see adding limbs as evolutionary, but more as revolutionary. We are doing it to ourelves, the thought of humans purposely adding borg like components kind of contradicts "evolution", because thats natures call, not ours.
Good find, very interesting.
