www.gamespot.com/features/6143883/p-4.htmlThey say it will be 6-8x faster, because they no longer have the backwards compatibility issue... I'm am kinda skeptical, 6-8x faster is quite the leap... What do you guys think?

Ill admit, I just glanced at it. I feel that 6-8x faster is no joke. Everything built up through DirectX9 has been on the foundation of a Windows that was released in 2001. On top of that, Vista (suposidly) is being built from a completely clean slate. Nothing is being carried over from XP.

There is no way that they can build from a completly clean slate, otherwise nothing that worked on Windows XP could work on Vista. Well it could, but not without some serious emulation, which, no matter what the case, will bog down the app alot. I have also read many statments on how DX9 will also sit in the back with DX10 so that compatability is still there.

Your probably right. Look at it this way, Elder Scrolls 4 is definately 6-8 or even 10 times more beautiful than Elder Scrolls 3. That doesnt make the senario between dx9 and 10 that far fetched. Im just saying, its feasible. Not impossible.
